A Personal Note on Selecting a Plastic Surgeon:

"It is becoming more and more difficult for patients to identify which physician they should go to and whom they should trust. There are many who call themselves Plastic Surgeons who do not have the appropriate training and background.

Select a Plastic Surgeon who is board certified in the specialty, and this means the American Board of Plastic Surgery, which is recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialists.

Your Plastic Surgeon should be a member in good standing of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and if he/she has a focus in cosmetic surgery, a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Ideally your Plastic Surgeon should also be a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons which allows him/her to append the title FACS. This demonstrates that his/her ethics have been examined and approved by peer review. "RJP
